Your role at the #WirVsVirus Hackathon

We’re looking for bold and innovative ideashat will help society to show solidarity and to emerge stronger from the current difficult situation caused by Covid-19. For this to work, the #WirVsVirus Hackathon needs a strong community.

But don’t worry: You don’t have to be a programmer to be able to contribute – because a strong community is a diverse community!
You can get involved in three different ways:

#1 Participant

You’re a designer, creative mind, a problem solver, a socially committed citizen or programmer? On the weekend of March 20-22, you are free and willing to get involved with others for 48 hours to work on a creative solution for a current challenge in the context of the Corona crisis and to make a meaningful contribution to society? At the end of the 48 hours, you and your team will have developed a working prototype – which can be digital or analog.

If you also have internet access and an email address, nothing keeps you from participating in the #WirVsVirus Hackathon.

#2 Project owner for challenges

Do you have a suggestion for a challenge that the teams should work on during the hackathon? The challenges can come from (almost) all areas: How can we ensure that people get answers to pressing questions about the Corona virus at any time? A Chatbot was developed for this in Estonia, which provides answers 24/7. Or how can we ensure that medical staff is available where it is needed? In Estonia, an online platformis managing volunteers in the medical sector to solve this problem. Ask your family and friends or take a look at our international examples. Regardless of whether it is about educating the population or communicating with a colleague from a distance: We want to know the challenges of the current situation for which you would like to find a solution. As a project owner of a challenge you have to be ready to stand by the teams over the weekend.

Deadline: 19.03.2020 – 20:00

#3 Mentor

You are an expert in a certain area? Do you, for example, have knowledge about data processing or social cohesion? Would you like to support others with your content or technical expertise and thus help them to develop solutions for current social challenges? Are you ready to be available for the questions and ideas of the participating teams in the #WirVsVirus Hackathon on the weekend from March 20-22?

#4 Company support during the hackathon (or afterwards)

You’re representing a company or an organization that would like to support the hackathon, or help support the solutions developed during it? Get in touch! Should you want to make your expertise available to participants during the hackathon, also feel free to register as a mentor. Disclaimer: We’re no longer adding organizations as initiators. Please only use the contact form for submissions of interest. That way we can ensure that your great offers reach the right people.
